This lovely historical painting of Mt. Vernon came to us in need of a serious cleaning, some in-painting and new varnish. It is an oil painting about 100 years old with serious fly specking. (black specking and damage which ate through the canvas like acid.) The painting was fully cleaned and restored, keeping the integrity of a minimal repair approach.

Art Restoration of Antique Russian Painting

This is an art restoration of an antique Russian painting that we did. Amazingly the gray on this painting is only really heavy dirt. It had to be cleaned very carefully because the canvas was so thin you could see right through it when you put it up to the light. The painting had to be relined (with melted wax – pictured below) and varnished too.

Greenwood Lake

This is from Upper Greenwood Lake. This photo looks terrific over 10″ inches wide. The grain is really part of the image so larger prints looks great. New Abstracts

These new paintings reach back to my abstract expressionistic roots. The series was based on movement and expression a sort of “motion with emotion” series. They were painted with bold gestures and brushstrokes, spontaneously and intuitively on thick cotton paper (heavy 4 ply rag board).

They are about 30″ x 36″ framed.

These pictures represent the overall paintings quite well with color but it is hard to capture the many layers and textures online with a photo. Seeing these paintings in person is like experiencing a live concert as apposed to hearing a song on the radio, it is much more fulfilling and you’ll want to experience every layer of detail, along with every splatter and drip.

The price range of these paintings is $2400 – $3800.

Art Restoration of Architectural Rendering of Park Chester South

Here is a restoration Lisa did for Parkchester South Condominiums in the Bronx. Architectural rendering on canvas backed by plywood. This was difficult restoration because the painting consisted of pencil, water based paints, like water color, and inks. These materials would easily be washed away by someone with less experience. The painting also consisted of some acrylic paint and also some markers. For this restoration we needed heavy cleaning, minor surface repairs and some in-painting. The painting was delivered via currier by it’s owner, and fully restored at our gallery. It was pretty big too – approx. size 46” x 76”

As is so often the case, web pictures don’t do full justice to the real thing, but these certainly do show a great transformation. The subtleties of this painting are hard to see here, but it was a beauty when done and it looks great now on the conference wall at Parkchester South.
