This painting has special meaning to the customer, because it is her father when he was very young and playing baseball. An artist painted this for the family and over time it had been misplaced. Over the years the painting turned up but it was in pretty bad condition. It had probably been rolled up and the painting itself became wrinkled, and cracked on the surface.
This wasn’t a high budget restoration so we couldn’t do some of the more fancy things we could have. That said, many times these are the most rewarding to do because it’s about a family member, and when restored it means so much for that family. It so often is an emotional moment when people see their paintings of family members restored. It makes it all worth the work.
