This nice painting came to us not long ago, and it looked like it needed some serious restoration. The canvas was in good shape, and thankfully it had not been through something terrible like a storm or fire. That said, it did have quite a thick layer of nicotine, or possibly years of cooking oil, or both, that we needed to deal with. At first glance we thought the painting was very thin on the canvas, but after our normal testing of the canvas and paint, we came up with our best way to clean this heavy gook, and in time we uncovered a very healthy painting with quite a different look than we expected. It was certainly very colorful and bright. This is what it looked like when painted by the artist, and it was quite a transformation for the owners to see. They loved it.
