This painting is thought to be a Solomon Hart painting, a British paintier who lived from 1806-1881. It came to us pretty dark and in need of a real cleaning. Otherwise the canvas and the painting were in fairly good condition, and no major work was needed beside removing old varnish, cleaning, and some in-painting. While the cleaning was being done, the dramatic whites and amazing reds and warm colors really began to pop, and the whole thing came to life. It’s a lovely painting. The customer was delighted with the change, and was happy to show it again in their home. We also did do some work on the frame that came with the painting to keep it all looking renewed.
